Two things need saying up front. First: this is not an airplane kit, but a resin detail set — you must own the OV-10 Bronco model itself. Second: this set is in 1:48 scale and shaped for the kit from ICM. The Bronco wipers for 1:32 scale and the Kitty Hawk kit are an entirely different product — parts are not interchangeable between scales, so check which box you have at home before ordering.
Why buy something so tiny at all? Because you will see the difference even without trying. A wiper is a thin, flat blade, and an injection mold physically cannot cast such a shape at a realistic thickness — plastic cannot flow into such a narrow cavity. The kit part therefore comes out thick, blocky and blunt, or is missing from the kit altogether. And it sits on the windshield, right next to the cockpit, exactly where the eye lands first. A resin casting handles the fine profile without compromise, and since the Bronco's cockpit is glazed so generously, the effect here is even bigger than on an ordinary fighter. It is a small accessory with an outsized visual effect.
The North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco is an American light observation and attack aircraft for close support of ground forces. Its design is unmistakable — twin tail booms and a cockpit glazed on nearly every side. Visibility was exactly the point: the Bronco was widely used for forward air control over the battlefield, a task in which the crew must see the ground better than anyone else in the air.
Resin does not react with styrene, so ordinary plastic model cement will not work — reach for cyanoacrylate or epoxy. Cut the parts from the casting block with a fine saw or a sharp knife; a thin wiper practically begs to be snapped if you try to break it off by hand. Wash the parts before painting to remove the mold release residue. Sand only wet — resin dust is harmful to health and should never be inhaled. One practical note: the wiper is tiny and easily snapped off or lost, so glue it on right at the very end of the build, after painting.
