Metal gun barrels for a model of the Northrop F-5 Tiger II in 1:48 scale, a replacement for the plastic parts from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Northrop F-5 Tiger II is a light supersonic fighter aircraft; the F-5E and F-5F versions go under this name. It came about as a simple and inexpensive machine for allied air forces and flies to this day as a trainer type and as an aggressor in training. It carries its 20 mm cannon armament in the front part of the fuselage, so the barrels are well visible on a model.
The accessory brings metal barrels for a model of the F-5 Tiger II in 1:48 scale. Metal barrels tend to have a thin wall and an open muzzle, so they look sharper than a plastic part from the kit, which is moreover often made up of two halves and the seam has to be sanded down. The exact contents of the package and the kit the set is prepared for are given in the maker's instructions.
Cut the plastic part off with a saw or a sharp blade, level the surface and, if needed, carefully redrill the hole for the barrel, so that the metal part seats properly. Glue the barrel with cyanoacrylate and watch that it sits on the axis: a deviation is unpleasantly visible on a finished model. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a thin coat of primer; you do not have to paint it, though, as the metal surface can stay as it is.
The set will please modelers who replace plastic parts with sharper metal ones and want the armament to be right even at a close look. The work takes a few minutes and is among the most rewarding improvements there are. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
