P-40: 40 lb fragmentation bombs 1:48 (3D-printed, Eduard): a set of the small antipersonnel (fragmentation) bombs the P-40 carried on attacks against ground targets. They complete the underwing stores of the model. An accessory for the Eduard P-40 plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
These are not aircraft models but a set of underwing stores for a kit. The accessory from the Czech maker Eduard (Obrnice near Most) is made by 3D printing and brings small fragmentation (antipersonnel) bombs weighing 40 pounds, exactly the kind of ordnance the P-40 carried under the wing on attacks against ground targets. Base kits tend to hold only bombs or drop tanks, so this set widens the choice of stores considerably. The set is intended for the Curtiss P-40 plastic kit from Eduard in 1:48 scale, which you must own.
The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was an American fighter and ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War, famous for its shark mouth and for its service with the Flying Tigers. Alongside air combat it was widely used for attacks on ground targets. Fragmentation bombs of the smaller sizes served against troops in the open and light equipment, and they were dropped in strings from the underwing racks.
Cut the bombs carefully from the print supports with a sharp knife and clean them up. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) to the underwing racks of the model. We recommend a light primer, painting with an airbrush and a wash to bring out the surface; decals for the markings tend to be included as well. The small parts are fragile, so handle them with tweezers.
This is a detail 3D-printed resin accessory, not a stand-alone model. It calls for the matching P-40 kit from Eduard. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
