An injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter Republic P-47N-1RE Thunderbolt in 1:48 scale from MiniArt. The P-47N version was the most powerful and longest-ranged production variant of the Thunderbolt: it received a new, longer wing with built-in fuel tanks, which fundamentally increased its range for long flights over the Pacific Ocean. The box is the Basic edition, that is a simplified form; the more demanding Advanced edition from the same maker offers more detailed contents.
The P-47N was created for the war in the Pacific, where fighters escorted bombers on long-range missions over vast stretches of water. It was powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine with a turbocharger, and its armament consisted of eight .50 caliber wing machine guns. The enlarged wing with its internal tanks and the rugged structure made the N model the ideal long-range fighter for the Pacific theater at the end of the Second World War.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue clean joints with thin modeling cement for plastic. Paint and highlight the cockpit interior before you close up the fuselage. Lay down a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. After the gloss coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash and add the wear that matches tropical service in the Pacific.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
