About product

Supermarine Attacker FB.2 1:48 (Trumpeter)

This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter captures the British Supermarine Attacker carrier-borne jet fighter in the FB.2 version. The model offers finely engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit and a landing gear with the classic tailwheel at the rear.

The real subject

The Attacker was the first jet fighter to enter regular service with the British Fleet Air Arm. It was based on a design with a straight laminar-flow wing and was powered by the Rolls-Royce Nene jet engine. The FB.2 fighter-bomber version differed from the basic version above all in its Nene Mk.102 engine and in its ability to carry underwing stores.

Building and painting tips

Glue with liquid cement for plastic and sand the fuselage joints carefully. The typical dark blue naval finish of the Fleet Air Arm shows best on a smooth base. Bring out the panel lines with a fine wash; the tailwheel allows an effective tail-down stance.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of British naval aviation
  • Anyone interested in early jet fighters
  • Lovers of less common types
  • More advanced beginners as well as advanced builders

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
