Exhaust nozzles for a model of the T-38C trainer in 1:48 scale. An item from the Reskit brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
The T-38C is the upgraded version of the American supersonic Talon trainer, which also carries the name Talon II in its designation. The machine has a slender fuselage, small low-set wings and a pair of engines side by side in the rear fuselage. It is precisely the tail with its pair of exhaust nozzles that is the most conspicuous thing about this aircraft, and on a model it is the first thing a viewer looks at.
The set replaces the exhaust nozzles, that is the end sections of both engine ducts. Compared with the parts from the kit the replacements have a thinner edge and a better worked-out interior, so the nozzles do not look like a blind hole and the model gains depth in a place everyone notices. The exact number of parts and the way they are fitted are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The nozzles are not made of polystyrene, so bond them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and sand the mating surface beforehand. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder down. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Spray the inside of the nozzle before you glue it into the fuselage, otherwise you will reach it with neither a brush nor an airbrush. Metallic shades come out well over a dark base coat, and the heat staining around the edge can be suggested with soft transitions.
For modelers who are building the T-38C in 1:48 scale and want a more convincing tail on the model. Paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
