An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous trainer North American T-6G Texan in 1:48 scale from Italeri. The model offers engraved panel lines, a well-worked pilot's compartment and canopy glazing broken down into several parts. The G version corresponds to the postwar upgrade with a revised cockpit and a radial engine.
The Texan is one of the most important trainers of the 20th century. A whole generation of military pilots learned to fly on this machine during the Second World War and after it, which earned it the nickname pilot maker. It was an all-metal low-wing monoplane with a tandem cockpit for instructor and pupil, powered by a Pratt & Whitney radial engine. Texans flew in dozens of countries around the world and a number of them are still flying at historic displays today.
Assemble the multi-part canopy glazing carefully and dry-fit the parts beforehand so that they line up; level the joints if needed. The interior of the tandem cockpit stands out, so it is worth giving it attention. Very typical of Texan trainers is the striking bright yellow finish, which makes the model a rewarding and eye-catching piece for a display case; silver and bare metal surfaces are common too. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
