The Tornado GR.1/IDS Gulf War 1:48 (Italeri) is a plastic kit of the swing-wing combat aircraft as it appeared in the Gulf War of 1991.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit in 1:48 scale captures the Panavia Tornado multirole combat aircraft in its GR.1 and IDS versions from the Gulf War of 1991. The model has a movable variable-geometry wing that stays working even once it is assembled. The package contains a rich decal sheet for several period finishes; check the exact number of schemes against the sheet supplied.
The Panavia Tornado is a twin-engine combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, the result of joint development by British, German and Italian companies. The IDS version and the British GR.1 were intended above all for attacks on ground targets on low-level penetration in any weather. The Tornado had its baptism of fire in the air campaign of the Gulf War, which began in January 1991.
Use liquid cement for plastic and sand the joints carefully, especially on the fuselage and the air intakes. An airbrush and a good primer prove their worth; both desert and European camouflage schemes sit better over a primer. Paint the external stores and the armament separately. Lay a gloss varnish under the decals. Neither paints nor glue are included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
