Typhoon Mk.IB, cannon barrels, early version, 1:48 is a 3D-printed detail set from Hobby 2000 for the Hasegawa and Hobby 2000 kits. It is not an airplane kit but a replacement of the plastic barrels with barrels that have a real bore.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an airplane kit. It is a small detail set from Hobby 2000, made by 3D printing, which replaces the injection-molded cannon barrels in the wing. It is intended for the Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB kits in 1:48 scale from Hasegawa and from Hobby 2000. That it fits both has a simple reason: Hobby 2000 is a brand that issues kits from other makers' molds, and with the Typhoon it is precisely the Hasegawa plastic in a new box. Without the base kit you will have no use for the set.
The Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB carried four 20 mm Hispano cannon in the wing and their barrels protruded from the leading edge. Early machines had the barrels uncovered: the bare barrel was visible along its whole length, including the mechanism at the root. On later machines the barrels were given aerodynamic fairings that enclosed them and reduced drag, and only a considerably shorter end section then protruded. The type of cannon did not change; what changes is precisely the form and the covering of the barrel. This set is for the early, uncovered form; the late form is covered by a separate barrel set for the late version from the same manufacturer. Check a period photograph of your particular aircraft, because if you buy the wrong version the barrels will not match.
An injection-molded barrel is always a compromise: it is needlessly thick, blanked off and carries the parting line of the mold, which has to be laboriously sanded away. A printed barrel has a thin wall and a real bore, so it is genuinely hollow. And because the barrels stick out of the leading edge of the wing, they are highly visible on a model. A small part with a disproportionately large effect.
The barrels are thin and break easily, so cut them off the support carefully with a sharp knife and fit them only at the end, after the model is painted. The material does not react to cement for polystyrene and is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy. Before painting, wash the parts in soapy water (print resin residue), and do any cleaning up by wet sanding, because dust from printed resin is harmful to health.
An accessory for a model, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
