Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the four-engined heavy bomber Consolidated B-24 in its D version, that is, in the form of the first mass-deployed aircraft. At 1:48 scale this is an exceptionally large model with a wide, narrow-chord wing and twin vertical tail fins. The kit comes from Hobby Boss, which has long focused on large American bombers in this scale.
Alongside the Flying Fortress, the B-24 Liberator was the other main American heavy bomber of the Second World War, and it ultimately became the most numerous American combat aircraft ever built. It was powered by four radial engines, and its trademark was the slender, so-called Davis wing set high on the fuselage, which gave it long range. The D version was the first truly mass-produced form of the type and became known, among other things, for raids on the oil refineries at Ploiesti. It also flew over the Atlantic in the anti-submarine role and in the Pacific.
For a model this size, plan the order of work in advance, since the fuselage interior cannot be reopened once glued. The high-mounted wing needs to be dry-fitted so both spars sit at the same angle and the model does not end up crooked. The bare-metal finishes of later aircraft need a perfectly smooth surface, while the earlier olive-drab schemes look their best with faded, oversprayed areas.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
