An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M4A3 76(W) Sherman medium tank in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures the version with the more powerful gun of 76 mm caliber and wet ammunition stowage. The package contains photo-etched parts; the exact contents, the decal schemes and the accessories are given by the manufacturer.
The M4A3 76(W) was the modernized version of the Sherman with a longer gun of 76 mm caliber, which improved penetration against the more heavily armored German tanks. The letter W (wet) marks the wet ammunition stowage in liquid-filled containers, which reduced the risk of fire after a hit. The turret was new and roomier, and a Ford GAA engine powered the machine. The vehicles were committed from the second half of 1944.
In 1:48 scale, assemble and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close the parts up. Give attention to the longer barrel of the 76 mm gun and to the new turret. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the fine photo-etched parts with super glue. Once the olive green camouflage is sprayed on, bring out the panel lines with a wash and add restrained dust and mud effects with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
