Vought V-156F Vindicator Aéronavale Service in 1:48 scale — a plastic kit of the French carrier-based dive bomber of 1939 and 1940.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit in 1:48 scale captures the Vought V-156F Vindicator, the export carrier-based dive bomber delivered to French naval aviation (the Aéronavale) at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s. The model focuses on machines in French service from the years 1939 and 1940.
The V-156F was the French version of the American carrier-based dive bomber Vought SB2U Vindicator. Compared with the American machines it lacked the tailhook and carried aerodynamic brakes in the wings; it received French avionics and armament. France ordered 40 aircraft, 24 of which had been delivered by the German attack in May 1940, and they equipped two squadrons. The machines went through deck training on the carrier Béarn and during the Battle of France they attacked bridges and ground targets and covered the evacuation at Dunkirk, suffering heavy losses in the process.
Separate the parts with fine modeling pliers or a knife and glue them with liquid plastic cement. Sand the seams and treat the surface with a primer before painting. The camouflage and markings are best laid down with an airbrush; French naval schemes of the late 1930s come out well once the panel lines are accentuated and light weathering is added.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
