PLA Navy Shandong (Pre-colored Edition) 1:700 is a plastic kit of the Chinese aircraft carrier with pre-colored parts and easy snap-fit assembly from Meng.

This plastic kit in 1:700 scale captures the Chinese aircraft carrier Shandong. The Pre-colored edition means that the parts are supplied already finished in color and that the ship goes together largely by snap-fit, with no need for glue, which makes the build easier for less experienced modelers too. The finished model measures roughly 440 mm long and 108 mm wide. It includes a range of movable elements, aircraft on the deck, hangar interiors, working elevators and hangar doors that can be built in the open as well as the closed position.
Shandong (Type 002) is the first aircraft carrier built entirely in China and the second in PLA Navy service. She was launched in 2017 and entered service in December 2019. In design she follows on from the earlier Liaoning, carries a ski-jump ramp on the bow (the STOBAR configuration) and serves as a vessel for carrier-based fighters.
Although the parts are pre-colored, the result is lifted by dressing the mold seams, light washes into the recesses of the deck and a matte clear coat to even out the surface. The deck markings and the landing areas will stand out with careful emphasis. For a full color effect the model can also be sprayed over with an airbrush, although the snap-fit construction does not call for it.
The model is supplied unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
