An injection-molded plastic kit of a guided missile destroyer of the PLA Navy in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. The 1:700 scale is the most widespread for modern warships, so the model fits well into a collection beside other vessels of the same size while staying a reasonable size for a display case.
The Type 051C is a class of guided missile destroyers of the PLA Navy, known in Western literature as the Luzhou class. These are surface vessels built on an older hull, whose main task is the air defense of a task group; the characteristic feature is an armament of surface-to-air guided missiles with vertical launch. Only a handful of ships were completed, which makes this type a fairly specific subject among models of the modern PLA Navy.
In a small scale, decide right at the start whether you will build the model as a full hull on a stand or as a waterline version sitting in the sea. The superstructure is easier to paint separate from the hull. Small parts such as masts, radars and guns are best cleaned up and glued only once the main surfaces are painted. The gray shade of the hull and superstructure is best applied with an airbrush in thin layers so that the engraved detail is not lost. The model is lifted considerably by added photo-etched railings and ladders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
