A plastic kit of the German light cruiser SMS Emden in 1:700 scale. The Deluxe Edition version adds sets of photo-etched and metal parts, decals and extra 3D-printed parts to the plastic. Because of the number of fine parts this is a more demanding build, better suited to more experienced modelers.
SMS Emden was a light cruiser of the Imperial German Navy that became famous at the start of the First World War as a lone raider against merchant shipping in the Indian Ocean. Within a few weeks it captured or sank a number of Allied vessels before being put out of action in November 1914. It ranks among the best-known cruisers of its day.
Think through how the model will be mounted and paint the deck and superstructures before the smallest parts go on. Glue the photo-etched parts (railings, ladders, cranes) with super glue and work with tweezers. An airbrush and careful clean-up pay off; leave the small metal parts for the final stage of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
