An injection-molded plastic kit of the American aircraft carrier Enterprise in 1:700 scale from Meng. The 1:700 scale is the most widespread one for warships, so the model fits well into an existing collection and does not take up excessive room in a display case. The specific number of parts, any photo-etched extras and the number of carrier aircraft are stated on the box of the kit.
Enterprise was the second unit of the Yorktown class and entered service in 1938. She was an aircraft carrier with a flat wooden flight deck, an island superstructure on the starboard side and a hangar below the flight deck. She took part in most of the key operations in the Pacific between 1942 and 1945 and was among the hardest-worked ships of the US Navy of the day. During the war she went through several refits, with the anti-aircraft armament and the radar equipment changing above all, which with models is reflected in the period each one captures.
First decide whether you will build the model with the full hull or in waterline form on a sea base. Spray the hull and the decks separately, otherwise the flight deck is hard to mask. A wooden deck looks best when you play the base shade out with light passes of lighter and darker tones. Glue the small anti-aircraft armament and the aerials on last, as they break off easily. A light wash will bring out the divisions of the deck and the superstructures, but do not overdo the weathering in such a small scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
