What the accessory is for

The flight deck is the largest continuous area on a model of an aircraft carrier and at the same time the most laborious place of the whole build. Along it run the markings of the launch and landing lanes, the lines around the elevators, the markings of the stations and the transitions between the individual surfaces. Masking all that out in 1:700 scale takes more time than the rest of the ship put together. A pre-printed deck gets around this work: the colors and the markings are finished on it, and you only settle it onto the model.

Usage tips

First lay the deck down dry and check how it sits around the island and the elevators; only then fix it for good. The way of fixing it is given in the manufacturer's instructions, so go by them and do not assume that the deck is glued like an ordinary decal. The base has to be flat, clean and degreased, otherwise every unevenness will show through the smooth surface. Work from one end to the other and smooth the surface down with a soft cloth as you go, so that no air is left under it. Do not pull the material by its edges, because stretching it will shift the markings of the lanes and that can no longer be put right.
