The USS Hornet was the third and last aircraft carrier of the Yorktown class. She became famous in April 1942, when B-25 bombers took off from her deck for the raid on Tokyo (the Doolittle Raid), and she played a key role in the Battle of Midway. In October 1942 she was badly damaged and sunk in the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands. Trumpeter depicts the ship in her wartime 1942 form.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic; the small parts in 1:700 call for care and are well complemented by fine photo-etched railings (which can be bought separately). Decide in advance between the full hull and waterline. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush; do the deck in the matching scheme and bring out the lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
