This injection-molded plastic kit captures the American South Dakota class battleship of the Second World War. The hull can be built at full height on a stand or as a waterline model. The box contains the main gun turrets of 406 mm caliber, the secondary turrets of 127 mm caliber, finely rendered superstructures, catapult-launched shipboard aircraft, a display stand and a nameplate.
USS Massachusetts was the second battleship of the South Dakota class, nicknamed Big Mamie. She was in service from 1942, opened her combat career by shelling targets during Operation Torch off Casablanca and at the end of the war operated in the Pacific against the Japanese islands. Her main battery was made up of nine guns of 406 mm caliber.
We recommend liquid cement for plastic, a primer base and painting with an airbrush; American shades of gray in a camouflage scheme are typical. Paint the hull and the decks before you fit the armament. The look is set off by photo-etched railings and rigging, which are not included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
