An injection-molded plastic kit of the Czechoslovak Aero Ab-101 biplane in 1:72 scale from RS Models. The Ab-101 was the dedicated bomber version of the Aero A-101 family with a more powerful engine. It is a short-run kit supplemented with photo-etched parts and a decal sheet with several marking options, among which there tend to be Czechoslovak as well as foreign aircraft.
The Aero Ab-101 was the bomber variant derived from the Czechoslovak multipurpose biplane Aero A-101. Compared with the base line it received a more powerful engine, but the expected marked rise in performance did not materialize. Even so the aircraft served with the Czechoslovak Air Force in the second half of the 1930s and some machines of this family also went abroad. As a classic biplane the Ab-101 has the characteristic arrangement of struts and bracing wires between the wings.
It is a short-run kit, so expect more careful fitting and cleaning up of the parts. Use liquid cement for plastic and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. On a biplane it is advisable to plan the sequence for assembling the wings and the struts in advance and to tension the bracing wires only after painting; stretched elastic thread or stretched sprue works well. Apply a primer before painting and put the colors on with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
