About product

3DF 1:72 L-29 Delfin - Extended Airbrake, Late Version (for AMK)

A 3D-printed accessory from the maker 3DF for the plastic kit of the L-29 Delfin in 1:72 scale from AMK. It shows the airbrakes in the extended (open) position in the late configuration and replaces the solution from the box with them. It is precisely in a small scale that the benefit of 3D printing shows most, because thin flaps and a fine relief are practically impossible to make in injected plastic. This is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for a kit you already own.

Use and handling

  • The parts in 1:72 are genuinely tiny and fragile, so work with tweezers, ideally over a mat and with a magnifier.
  • Cut the print supports off with a sharp modeling scalpel and sand the remains gently; do not press, because the part breaks easily.
  • Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry thoroughly.
  • Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate), applying the smallest possible amount, for example with a pin; ordinary cement for plastic does not hold.
  • Apply a primer, then thin coats of paint, because a heavy coat would flood the detail in this scale.

The real subject: Aero L-29 Delfin

The Aero L-29 Delfin was a Czechoslovak jet trainer that from the end of the 1950s became the basic training machine of the air forces of the Warsaw Pact states. It was built in large numbers and served with a range of other users around the world as well. The airbrakes on the sides of the fuselage are among the characteristic elements of its silhouette, and in the extended position they give even a small model in 1:72 a convincing life.

Who the part is for

For modelers who are building the L-29 in 1:72 scale from AMK and are not afraid of working with tiny resin parts. Given the size of the parts, this is an accessory for patient and more experienced builders. Choose the scale according to your kit, because this item is 1:72; a separate version exists for models in 1:48.

The package contains only the 3D-printed parts. The model, glue and paints are not included. When sanding resin, protect your airways, sand wet and ventilate.

FAQ

No. It is a 3D-printed accessory - extended airbrakes for a model of the L-29. The model itself from AMK has to be bought separately.

It depends on the scale of your kit. This item is 1:72; the identical part in 1:48 is sold separately and the scales are not interchangeable.

With tweezers, a sharp modeling scalpel and super glue applied in the smallest possible amount. Resin is brittle, so it pays to work calmly and over a mat.

It is recommended. Washing in lukewarm water with dish soap and thorough drying markedly improve the adhesion of the primer and the paint.
