This is not a helicopter kit but a small set of 3D decals from Quinta Studio in 1:72 scale. It contains the formation (slime) lights for the AH-1W and AH-1Z attack helicopters and is intended for the Dream Model kits.
Slime lights are formation, that is position lights: narrow greenish strips on the fuselage that only glow faintly in the dark. They let helicopters in close formation see one another without being conspicuous from a distance, and it is from that slimy greenish color that the nickname comes. The AH-1W Super Cobra and its successor the AH-1Z Viper are US Marine Corps attack helicopters. On a model they are small but prominent rectangular patches, and painting them straight, sharp and symmetrical is one of the least pleasant jobs of the whole build.
A 3D decal is a printed color element with real thickness and three-dimensional relief, but one that is applied with water, like an ordinary decal. A finished color detail is therefore made in a few minutes and with no masking. The procedure: first remove the molded suggestion of the lights from the plastic, so that the element beds down on a flat surface; wash and degrease the surface and go over it with a gloss varnish, which is what the element holds on. Release it from the backing paper with a brief dip in lukewarm water and slide it into place. Do not use a decal softener or setter, as their chemistry attacks the printed resin. Handle the thin printed elements carefully, as they are fragile and take only light shaping; do not force them over sharp edges. Seal the finished patches with a matte varnish.
Watch the scale: this set is for 1:72. Quinta Studio also makes a similar set for 1:48 scale, so check which kit you are building before you buy. This is not a helicopter model but an accessory. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
