A kit in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Planet Models. This brand's military vehicle range is made in resin, that is cast in molds rather than injection-molded, and is therefore intended rather for experienced modelers. The subject is the French ARL-44 heavy tank. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The ARL-44 came about immediately after the Second World War as the first French heavy tank built after the liberation. The design drew on prewar experience, the hull recalled older French machines and the turret carried a gun of 90 millimeters. Only sixty were built and the machine was already obsolete when it entered service, so it was withdrawn after a few years. That is exactly why it is a rare type and one little represented among models.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a detergent so that the mold release agent is removed from the surface, as otherwise neither paint nor glue will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw rather than nippers, as the material is brittle. They are glued with super glue; solvent cement for plastic does not work here. Use respiratory protection when sanding, or sand wet, because resin dust is harmful to health.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
