Pre-cut masks for the model of the Armstrong Whitworth Whitley Mk.V night bomber in 1:72 scale, cut to fit the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Armstrong Whitworth Whitley was a British twin-engine night bomber that bore the brunt of the first Royal Air Force raids over the European mainland. The Mk.V version received Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engines and a lengthened rear fuselage. The aircraft can be recognized at first glance: because of the large angle of incidence of the wing it flew visibly nose down, as if it were always descending. Later the machines served with Coastal Command and in paratroop training.
The package holds pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model in 1:72 scale, cut to fit the Airfix kit. They cover the areas that are to stay free of paint; on an aircraft with as many glazed places as the Whitley, this is work that cutting tape by hand would take a whole evening.
Stick the masks onto a clean, degreased surface before spraying and press the edges down with the blunt tip of a toothpick, so that paint does not run underneath. Spray in thin coats; one heavy coat will creep under the edge sooner than three fine ones. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has set and look along the edge against the light. Wipe away any adhesive residue with a cotton swab moistened in alcohol, carefully and only where the adhesive really stayed behind.
The set suits anyone who is building the Whitley in 1:72 scale and wants the frames of the glazing sharp and evenly wide. The package contains masks only; the kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
