An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian self-propelled gun Autocannone 3RO with the 90 mm anti-aircraft gun in 1:72 scale from the Italian brand Italeri. The model combines the heavy 3RO truck with the powerful 90/53 gun carried directly on the bed of the vehicle. It is a model from the quick-build line, and the box also contains a set of crew figures. The exact contents of the particular box are given in the instructions inside.
The 90/53 was an Italian 90 mm anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun, comparable in performance with the well-known German 88. So that the Italian army would have a mobile weapon able to change position quickly, these guns were mounted on the beds of heavy 3RO trucks - and so the autocannone, that is the self-propelled gun carried by a vehicle, came about. The combination served above all in North Africa as mobile anti-aircraft and anti-tank support. The gun could fire straight from the bed and the vehicle gave it the mobility it needed, if at the price of a tall silhouette and poor protection for the crew.
Assemble the chassis and the bed of the vehicle first, and only then seat the gun and its mount; take care to align the long barrel correctly. Even on a quick-build kit it pays to fill the seams of the cab. Bring the sand or gray-green finish to life with shading and a dry brush on the edges. Dust pigments on the wheels and the underside will give the vehicle the look of desert service. Paint the crew figures separately and place them around the gun for a lively scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
