A large injection-molded plastic model of the British four-engine bomber Avro Lancaster B.Mk.III Dambusters in 1:72 scale from Revell. It is the special conversion of the aircraft for the famous Operation Chastise: the center fuselage is adapted to carry the rotating bouncing bomb, and the box holds that bomb together with its mounting. The model has a broken-down surface with engraved detail, Merlin engines and variants of the propeller blades. Because of its size and the number of parts it is a more demanding build for experienced modelers.
The Lancaster was the most successful British heavy bomber of the Second World War, powered by four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. Specially converted machines of No. 617 Squadron RAF attacked the German dams on the night of 16 to 17 May 1943 with the unique rotating bomb designed by Barnes Wallis. The raid, led by Wing Commander Guy Gibson, went down in history as the Dambusters operation.
Glue the parts with modeling cement for plastic; fill and sand the large fuselage and wing joints carefully. It pays to paint the interior and the landing gear bays before closing them up. Apply a primer base before painting and spray with an airbrush; night bomber camouflage rewards subtle shading and an accent of the panels with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
