An injection-molded plastic kit of the British supersonic interceptor in 1:72 scale from Airfix. It is a modern tooling with pleasing surface engraving and decals for two color variants. The kit is within reach of a more advanced beginner.
The English Electric Lightning was a British supersonic interceptor with a unique arrangement of two engines stacked one above the other and a characteristic swept wing. The F.2A version belonged to the later standards — it was given a square-cut fin, reworked leading edges and an enlarged ventral tank, which stretched its endurance on patrol to roughly two hours.
Try the fit of the fuselage, the air intake and the ventral tank dry and clean up the parting lines. Set the glued joints with thin plastic cement and the canopy glazing with cement for clear parts. The bare metal look of some surfaces comes from metallic paint over a smooth base; use gloss clear under the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
