This resin detail set from the Czech maker CMK lets you replace the control and movable surfaces on the Airfix kit of the supersonic BAC Lightning F2A fighter in 1:72 scale with more faithful parts. It is not an aircraft kit but a set of replacement parts: separately cast movable surfaces that can be set in a deflected position to give the model a dynamic look.
The English Electric (later BAC) Lightning was a British supersonic Cold War interceptor with an unusual arrangement of two engines stacked one above the other. The F2A version was an upgraded variant with extended range. Deflected control surfaces bring a static display of the model to life.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Before setting the surfaces in place, carefully clean up the mating edges of the wing and the tail surfaces.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
