The Revell anniversary set for the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1:72 scale holds four separate aircraft kits from both opposing sides.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set brings together the British and the German side of the summer of 1940. Inside you will find kits of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IIa, the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I, the Junkers Ju 87 B-2 and the Junkers Ju 88 A-1, each with its own decal sheet and instructions with a historical introduction. The Spitfire comes from a newer mold with finer surface detail than older releases of the same type.
After the fall of France it was being decided whether Germany would gain air superiority over the Channel. RAF Fighter Command rested on the radar chain, a system of ground control and a pair of types that complemented each other perfectly: the nimble Spitfire tied down the fighter escort, while the sturdier Hurricane attacked the bomber formations. The Ju 87 dive bomber turned out to be too vulnerable over England and had to be withdrawn, whereas the fast Ju 88 remained a mainstay of the attacks right to the end of the campaign.
One option is to build all four machines in a single style and display them as a whole. The small scale forgives fewer mistakes in spraying, so thin the paint more and apply it in more thin coats. It pays to mask the canopies with a separate masking film. Before the decals, go over the surfaces with a gloss clear coat so that no air gets under them.
Paints, brushes and glue are not supplied with this set.
