An injection-molded plastic kit of the Bombardier CRJ-700 regional jet airliner in the American Eagle livery, in 1:72 scale from Big Planes Kits. It is a short-run kit supplemented with photo-etched parts and resin details; the box contains a clear part for the cockpit and decals. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The CRJ-700 is a regional jet airliner from the Canadian company Bombardier, derived from the Canadair Regional Jet line. It was powered by two jet engines mounted on the sides of the rear fuselage, typically carried around seventy passengers and was the backbone of commuter and regional traffic in the USA and Europe. The CRJ-700 version has a shorter fuselage than the later CRJ-900.
Short-run kits call for more work on the fit of the parts — it is advisable to let the joints dry thoroughly, to sand the mold seams and to fill them if necessary. Glue the photo-etched and resin parts with cyanoacrylate glue. The smooth fuselage of an airliner rewards a good primer and airbrush spraying; protect the clear parts and the windows with masks. A gloss white base under the decals helps to achieve a clean look for the livery.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
