Omask 1:72 CANT Z.506 Airone – mask set (for Italeri and Supermodel kits)

A mask set from the Czech manufacturer Omask for the CANT Z.506 Airone kit in 1:72 scale from Italeri and Supermodel (Italeri releases this mold in reissues). The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks – you stick them onto the parts, spray the paint and peel them off once it has dried. On a large aircraft with an extensive glazed nose and cockpit this means an enormous saving of time compared with cutting masking tape by hand.

The real subject

The CANT Z.506 Airone (heron) was an Italian three-engined floatplane from the second half of the 1930s. It began as a civil transport machine and served in the Regia Aeronautica as a bomber and a long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft. It became best known, however, as an air-sea rescue machine – in that role some examples survived the war and flew with the Italian Air Force long after it.

Use

• Degrease the part to be masked and let it dry, so that the mask holds well.
• Lift the mask off the sheet with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and place it precisely.
• Press the edges down thoroughly – otherwise the paint creeps underneath and the edge will not be sharp.
• Spray in thin coats, not in one heavy coat.
• Remove the masks only once the paint has dried, pulling at a shallow angle.

For modelers who build the Airone in 1:72 scale and want sharp frames and clean glazing without laborious tape cutting. Even a beginning modeler will manage it.

This is a modeling accessory, not a kit. The plastic model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
