An injection-molded plastic kit of the American twin-engine Cessna T-50 in 1:72 scale from the traditional Czech maker Kovozavody Prostejov (KP) of Prostejov. This package focuses on the JRC-1 form, the naval designation of the type, and on the civil and military Bobcat. KP today builds on modern short-run molds, so the kit offers fine engraving, but by its character it is intended rather for moderately advanced builders. Watch out for the related kit of the same machine in the Crane Mk.Ia / UC-78 form, as it is the same type of aircraft but with different military markings and different decals.
The Cessna T-50 was an American light twin-engine multipurpose aircraft designed as a trainer and liaison machine. It entered service around the start of the Second World War and became known for its mixed wood-and-metal structure with a covering of plywood and fabric, which earned it the nickname Bamboo Bomber. It was used mainly to train pilots of twin-engine machines and for light liaison and transport duties. The same machine served under a range of designations: JRC-1 with the US Navy and Bobcat as the general name of the type, while the army air force and the Commonwealth used the designations UC-78, AT-17 and Crane.
Use a liquid cement applied with a brush on the plastic and dry-fit the joints in advance. The glazing of the flight deck is extensive on this type, so it pays to mask the frames and lay a clear coat at the end. Finish the interior before closing the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting; the smooth metal as well as the flat period shades are best created with an airbrush. Use a gloss coat under the decals and unify the whole with a final overcoat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
