An injection-molded plastic kit of the JL-8 jet trainer, designated K-8 Karakorum for export, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model has a clean aerodynamic fuselage with a tandem cockpit and a simple, straightforward build. The boxing contains clear parts and a decal sheet with Chinese and Pakistani markings.
The JL-8, or K-8 Karakorum, is a jet trainer and light attack aircraft of Chinese development, in which Pakistani industry also took part. It serves for basic and advanced pilot training and in a light combat role; it first flew in the early 1990s and is still used by a number of countries. Its dependable and thrifty design has made it one of the most widespread modern trainers.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic; thanks to the lower part count it is a rewarding build for less experienced modelers as well. Apply a primer before painting. The schemes tend to be striking - from silvery metal to colorful training or desert camouflage. Mask the tandem glazing and paint it last, and pick the panel lines out with a subtle wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
