A resin accessory from the Hungarian maker SBS Model for models of the Curtiss P-40B in 1:72 scale. This is not an aircraft kit but a set of precisely cast exhaust stubs that take the place of the simpler plastic parts from the kit. The cast exhausts have a faithful shape and indicated outlets, which makes the model markedly more accurate. The set is intended for the Airfix kit.
The Curtiss P-40B was an early version of the famous machine, made famous among other things with the Flying Tigers unit. The exhausts of the V12 Allison engine are clearly visible on the sides of the fuselage, and replacing them with a resin casting raises the realism of the model. The accessory is for more experienced modelers.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water. Carefully cut the fine casting blocks off and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). For a realistic look, dark metallic shades with rusty and burnt tones work well, possibly with a fine soot pigment.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
