A finished collector model in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit: the model is supplied assembled, painted and with the markings applied, so nothing has to be done with it and it goes straight into the display case. The model carries the markings of a machine linked with the most successful Israeli fighter pilot and with the unit that was the very first fighter squadron of the Israeli Air Force.
The Mirage III was a French supersonic fighter with a delta wing and a single turbojet with an afterburner. Israel took it into service under a name of its own and deployed it in the Six-Day War and in the conflicts that followed, where it became the most successful type of its air force. The delta wing gave high speed and good agility at altitude, while landing called for high speed and a long runway. It was on this very type that most Israeli air victories of the period were scored.
With a kit the modeler chooses the colors, the markings and the degree of wear himself and the result is one of a kind. A finished model, by contrast, offers certainty: the exactly specified version of a particular machine, a uniform look across the whole collection and the immediate option of standing it in a display case. That is precisely why collections of finished models are built in series, where one piece complements the next.
