An injection-molded plastic kit of the French fighter Dewoitine D.520 in 1:72 scale. This edition features decals for Bulgarian service and offers other national schemes as well. It is a short-run kit with plastic moldings and clear parts. Take the exact contents of the package and the list of markings from the actual moldings.
The D.520 was the most modern French fighter fielded in larger numbers at the beginning of the Second World War. It was powered by a Hispano-Suiza V12 engine, and its armament consisted of a cannon firing along the axis of the propeller together with machine guns. Although it reached service late and in small numbers, it was among the best performing French fighters of its day. After the armistice it went on serving with the Vichy forces, and several aircraft reached other air forces, the Bulgarian one among them.
This is a short-run kit better suited to more experienced modelers — expect to clean up the moldings and to dry-fit the parts. Glue the plastic with a thin model cement and apply a primer before painting. The French three-color camouflage goes on well with an airbrush; masking will make sharper transitions easier. A fine wash will pick out the panel lines, and a matte varnish will tie the surface together.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
