A plastic kit of the twin-engine Douglas Digby Mk.I in 1:72 scale, the Canadian version of the American medium bomber Douglas B-18 Bolo in the service of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; for the exact contents of the box and the markings offered, follow the enclosed instructions.
Digby was the Canadian designation of the American twin-engine medium bomber Douglas B-18 Bolo, which was structurally derived from the Douglas DC-2 airliner. The Royal Canadian Air Force obtained twenty B-18A machines in 1940 as the Digby Mk.I and deployed them above all on maritime patrol and anti-submarine duty over the Atlantic with Eastern Air Command. The Digbys took part in attacks on German submarines, and a crew from No. 10 Squadron contributed to the sinking of a submarine east of Newfoundland. In the anti-submarine role they were replaced from 1943 by aircraft with greater range.
Separate the parts from the sprues with a sharp knife and clean up the mating faces. Glue with liquid modeling cement for plastic and use a cement that does not fog clear plastic for the canopy glazing. Apply a primer before painting; the large areas of the wings and fuselage are best handled with an airbrush. RCAF patrol camouflage comes out well after light weathering and a matte clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
