An injection-molded plastic kit of the tropical version of the British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb in 1:72 scale from IBG Models. The Trop. version is characterized by the large Vokes dust filter under the nose, which made operation in desert conditions possible. The ESSENTIALS range is a reduced-content boxing: it contains plastic parts (and photo-etch according to the box) but no decals and no printed instructions, as the instructions tend to be available for download.
The Spitfire Mk.Vb was one of the most widespread versions of the Spitfire, powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and armed with a combination of machine guns and cannon. The tropical modification with the Vokes filter came into use above all in the Mediterranean and North Africa, where it protected the engine against ingesting sand.
Use a thin cement for plastic and fill the joints if needed. Apply a primer before painting and apply the colors preferably with an airbrush. Given the absence of decals in this boxing, prepare the markings from another source according to the machine you choose.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
