This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter captures the American supersonic fighter-bomber North American F-100F Super Sabre - the two-seat version of the type. The package holds plastic parts, clear parts for the glazing and decals for marking options.
The F-100 Super Sabre was the first American production fighter able to reach supersonic speed in level flight and became one of the pillars of the US Air Force in the Cold War era. The F-100F version is the two-seat standard with a lengthened fuselage for the second seat; against the single-seaters it had slightly reduced cannon armament, but otherwise it kept the capabilities of a fighter-bomber. Two-seat Super Sabres served among other things in training and in the role of suppressing enemy air defenses.
Finish and paint the cockpit with both seats and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage; in the smaller 1:72 scale take care over clean fit and a restrained thickness of paint. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and glue the clear parts with canopy glue. Apply a primer before the airbrush. Whether you choose a metal finish or a later camouflage scheme, the panel lines will come to life nicely with a fine wash and restrained weathering of the exhaust stains.
