An injection-molded plastic kit of the American General Dynamics F-111A Aardvark tactical bomber in 1:72 scale from Italeri. The model captures the initial combat A version of this striking aircraft with its variable-geometry wing. Check the exact contents of the box and the number of markings against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The F-111 was a two-seat jet with a variable-geometry wing, known as a swing wing, which the pilot swept out and back in flight according to the regime; the spread wing helped on takeoff and in slow flight, while the swept wing allowed high speeds. The F-111A was the first production combat version, made for the US Air Force. The aircraft stood out for its long range, for its ability to fly at low altitude following the terrain thanks to its onboard radar, and for a large weapons load; it was used, among other places, in the war in Vietnam.
The larger model makes it possible to work the cockpit and the gear bays up nicely before they are closed. Assemble the movable wing so that it stays working, or fix it at the angle you want. Sand the joints of the fuselage and the engine nacelles carefully. Paint with an airbrush, pick out the panel lines with a wash and add wear in keeping with its service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
