1:72 F-16 Fighting Falcon (F100-PW-220) - open exhaust nozzle (3D Printed) is a printed exhaust nozzle in the open position. The set is cut for the Hasegawa kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A printed replacement for the engine exhaust nozzle on a model of the F-16 fighter in 1:72 scale, in the variant for the F100-PW-220 powerplant and with the petals in the open position. The set is cut for the Hasegawa kit. That matters because the same nozzle also comes out in a version for another kit, and the designation of the type alone would not tell the two apart. This is an addition, not a model of the aircraft.
Over its production life the F-16 was delivered with two entirely different powerplants from two makers, and the nozzle is where that shows most. The F100 version has a different petal geometry and different outer skinning from the rival engine, and the difference is visible even at normal viewing distance. The open position of the petals matches a machine parked with the engine shut down, when the nozzle is not drawn in to a narrow section.
The printed parts are held on thin supports. Snip them off close to the part and level the face with a file or a scalpel. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting. Leave the inside of the nozzle lighter and tone the outer petals toward a darker, heat-stained shade. Bring out the crisp edges with a dry brush.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
