This is a resin detail set from the Czech manufacturer CMK, intended to improve the cockpit of a model of the F-86F Sabre fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not a standalone aircraft kit but a set of replacement and additional parts with which you replace the simplified interior of the plastic kit. It typically contains a new cockpit tub with side walls, a seat, an instrument panel and further details; some sets are supplemented with color photo-etched parts.
The North American F-86 Sabre was an American jet fighter of the early 1950s and one of the icons of the Korean War. The F-86F version was among the most widespread and became famous for its duels with MiG-15s over what was known as MiG Alley. A detailed interior markedly raises the fidelity of an open cockpit.
First wash the resin parts free of mold release agent residues, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the interior and darken the shadows before closing the fuselage; an airbrush and a fine wash to bring out the instruments both work well.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
