An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Japanese brand Hasegawa. It captures the Grumman F9F-2 Panther carrier-based jet fighter with its straight wings. The package contains plastic sprues, a clear cockpit part and a decal sheet; the exact range of markings depends on the particular release.
The Grumman F9F Panther was the first production success among the carrier-based jet fighters of the US Navy. It was deployed during the Korean War, where it served in both fighter and attack roles. It was powered by a jet engine derived from the British Rolls-Royce Nene and built under license. The straight wing carried tip tanks, which became a recognizable feature of the type. The Panther also flew with the Blue Angels display team.
Glue the joints with liquid cement for plastic and use a primer before painting. The characteristic navy blue goes on well from an airbrush in fine coats. The panel lines come out after a darker wash is applied. Paint the clear canopy last and mask the frames beforehand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
