An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy Jagdtiger tank destroyer in 1:72 scale from the Chinese brand Trumpeter. This is the version with Henschel running gear. The box holds plastic sprues and a decal sheet; the model is meant to be glued and painted.
The Jagdtiger, with the military designation Sd.Kfz.186, was the heaviest series-built tank destroyer of the Second World War. It was created on the lengthened hull of the Tiger II and carried a 12.8 cm Pak 44 gun with a barrel 55 calibers long in a fixed casemate. Combat weight was over seventy tons. Only a few dozen vehicles were built and just two heavy anti-tank battalions used them. The version with Henschel running gear has nine road wheels on each side, while the eleven vehicles with Porsche running gear had eight.
Spray the running gear and the inside of the casemate before you close the hull. Thin cement for polystyrene draws into the joint by capillary action and leaves no overflow. A filler primer pays off under the late German camouflage schemes; apply the shades with an airbrush and softened edges. Glue the long barrel with care and let the joint dry well so that it does not droop. Finally add a dark wash in the recesses, dry brushing on the edges and dust pigments on the running gear and the fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
