1:72 Gotha P.60N-1 Luftwaffe 46

The real subject

The Gotha P.60 was a German project for a combat flying wing from the last months of the Second World War. The Gothaer Waggonfabrik company built on the flying-wing work of the Horten brothers and was preparing a machine of its own with jet propulsion, in which the crew was placed in the front of the center section. It never went beyond documentation and models; the aircraft was not built and never flew. It therefore belongs among the projects that builders know under the collective heading Luftwaffe 46: unfinished German intentions from the end of the war whose shape we know only from drawings.

What the kit offers

This is a plastic kit in 1:72 scale. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The number of parts, the color options offered and the recommended sequence are given in the manufacturer's instructions. With projects that were never realized, the shape of the model rests on the surviving material and on its interpretation, so the rendering can differ between manufacturers; it is a field of its own, where the builder has a freer hand in choosing the colors than with a production machine.

Building and painting tips

Clean the excess material off the parts before gluing and level the mating surfaces. Try the fit dry; on the large surfaces of a flying wing it pays to back the joints and to let them cure properly before you start sanding. Continuous surfaces without breaks reveal every unevenness, so it is worth sanding the surface and spraying it with a primer before painting.

Who it is for

The kit will please anyone interested in projects that were never realized and in unusual shapes. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
