Eduard BIG ED 1:72, Grumman TBF-1C Avenger (folded wings) is a bundle of several Eduard detail sets in one package for the Hobby Boss kit: photo-etch for the interior and the exterior plus masks. It is not a kit but a set of accessories for a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is NOT an aircraft kit. BIG ED is Eduard's name for a bundle: several separately sold detail sets for one particular model are packed together, so the model is completely equipped in one go. That is the whole point of the line.
This bundle is put together for the TBF-1C Avenger kit from Hobby Boss in 1:72 scale and contains five individual sets: a color photo-etched set for the cockpit (including seat belts), a photo-etched set for the bomb bay, an exterior photo-etched set (fine external detail), a photo-etched set for the wings in the folded position and self-adhesive masks for the glazing and the wheels. The color photo-etched parts for the cockpit need no painting, as they come colored from the factory.
The Grumman TBF Avenger was an American carrier-based torpedo bomber and one of the key machines of the war in the Pacific. Like every carrier aircraft it had to save space on the ship, so it had folding wings: Grumman's patented mechanism rotated and folded them back along the fuselage, so that the machines fitted closely side by side on deck. It is exactly this position that a separate photo-etched set in the bundle is devoted to. Incidentally, the later American president George H. W. Bush flew an Avenger as a young naval pilot; in September 1944 he was shot down by anti-aircraft fire during a raid on the island of Chichijima, bailed out by parachute and was picked up from the sea by an American submarine.
Cut the parts from the fret with photo-etch scissors, or cut them off with a sharp knife against a hard surface; never tear them off, because a bent part cannot be straightened again. Make the folds in a bending tool, or over the edge of a steel ruler, not with your fingers; on colored parts bend only in gentle curves, so that the factory color does not crack at the fold. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, because polystyrene cement does not hold on metal, having nothing to melt. Degrease every part you are going to paint or clear coat first (alcohol, mineral spirits); paint will not take on greasy metal and will peel off when handled. Apply the masks to clean glazing, press the transitions down with a toothpick and remove them only once the paint has dried.
A set of accessories, not a kit. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
