1:72 Heinkel He 119A is a short-run kit of the German high-speed experimental aircraft in its landplane form.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German high-speed experimental aircraft He 119 in its landplane form with a conventional undercarriage, in 1:72. The maker builds on short-run technology, so count on more careful fitting of the parts. From the floatplane variant of the same type the kit differs precisely in the landing gear and the parts that go with it.
The He 119 was an attempt to build an aircraft with the least possible drag. Power came from a pair of engines coupled into a single unit inside the fuselage, which drove a single propeller through a long shaft. The shaft ran under the floor of the cockpit, so the crew sat above it and the nose stayed fully glazed. The resulting shape was exceptionally clean and the machine reached a speed that the production aircraft of the day could not match. The type never went into production and stayed at prototypes.
With a short-run kit try every part dry and count on filling, especially where the fuselage meets the wing. Finish the glazed nose before you close the fuselage, and mask the glazing. The smooth surface of an experimental machine deserves careful preparation, because every irregularity stands out under a gloss coat. The finishes of prototypes tended to be plain, so the model comes to life with a fine differentiation of panels rather than with heavy weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
