Domestic wallpapers for a diorama, 1:72 scale

Printed sheets with domestic wallpaper motifs in 1:72 scale. They serve to cover interior walls on a diorama, whether you are building a living room or a house with a shelled facade that can be seen into.

Why wallpaper is worth doing on a diorama

A bare wall of cardboard or plaster looks empty and a viewer will see neither scale nor period on it. A wallpaper pattern gives away both at once and lends a scene what matters most with interiors: the sense that somebody lived here. In 1:72 scale a wall two and a half meters high comes out at barely three and a half centimeters, so the pattern has to be small and regular, otherwise it spoils the whole impression.

What the set contains

Sheets printed with wallpaper patterns in 1:72 scale. The manufacturer states the number of sheets, the size and the range of individual motifs.

How to work with the sheets

• Trace the wall onto paper first and lay the template on the sheet, so that you cut only once.
• Cut with a sharp blade against a ruler; with a small pattern, scissors easily wander off the vertical.
• Choose the glue according to the material of the sheets and test it on an offcut, so the surface does not soak through and ripple.
• Let a glued sheet dry under a light weight, otherwise it will lift at the corners.
• The base must be smooth; every unevenness shows through a thin sheet.
• Suggest torn edges and grimy corners only at the end, with a fine dry brush and a dark shade.

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and display scenes in 1:72 scale who work with open interiors and want their walls finished faster than they could paint them.

The diorama, figures and building materials are not supplied, unless stated otherwise.
