Polikarpov I-16 type 5/6 1:72 from Amodel is an injection-molded short-run kit of the Soviet fighter of the 1930s.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from Amodel captures the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter in the type 5/6 version in 1:72 scale. It is a short-run model, and because the real aircraft was small the finished model is only around eight centimeters long. The set holds decals for several users.
The I-16 was a revolutionary design in its day, one of the first production cantilever low-wing monoplanes with retractable landing gear. It formed the backbone of the Soviet fighter force in the second half of the 1930s and fought in the Spanish Civil War, over China and in the opening of the Second World War. Its stubby fuselage earned it the nickname ratik.
With this short-run model count on dry-fitting the parts and cleaning the edges up. The small size puts the emphasis on clean gluing and fine cleaning of the joints. Use a thin cement for plastic and a fine filler; the radial engine and the interior come to life with careful painting and a restrained wash. Unify the surface with a primer before spraying.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
