Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American amphibian biplane J2F in version 5, in 1:72. The maker builds on short-run technology, so count on more careful fitting of the parts. In return you get a type that the big brands usually do not offer in this scale.
The Duck was a single-engine biplane with a wholly unusual solution: under the fuselage it had a massive central float, into which the retractable wheeled undercarriage was also built. The machine could therefore land on water and on a runway without changing its configuration. It served mainly for coastal patrol, for transport and for the search and rescue of downed airmen. Power came from an air-cooled radial engine. It is precisely the combination of a biplane, a float and a retractable undercarriage that makes the model an unmistakable piece.
With a short-run kit try every part dry and count on filling. Seat the upper wing with a jig that holds both the dihedral and the angle, and glue the struts one at a time. Tension the bracing wires only at the end. Finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage. American interwar schemes tended to be colorful, with bright colors and bold stripes, which you will handle best with masking.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
